Maggie’s Place Resource Library
A special part of Maggie’s Place is dedicated to providing parents and caregivers access to a variety of educational and supportive resources. Our Resource Library contains books and videos, dealing with prenatal and postnatal information, parenting and other topics of interest to families. The library is located at Maggie’s Place in Amherst and is available 8:30 a.m. — 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday during regular business hours. Families can borrow the resources for a two-week lending period.
Maggie’s Place Idea Kits
A special part of Maggie’s Place is dedicated to providing information, tips and interactive game ideas to parents and caregivers to deal with specific parenting challenges such as “I’m a First Time Father”, “Your Child’s Healthy Development”, “Potty Learning For Boys and Girls” and a wide variety of other topics.
The Idea kits give parents and caregivers access to a variety of educational and developmentally appropriate information—each relating to a particular theme. Children can benefit enormously from play-based interaction with parents and caregivers.
The kits are located at Maggie’s Place in Amherst and are available 8:30 a.m. — 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday during regular business hours. Families can borrow kits for a two-week lending period.
Maggie’s Magic Cupboard Toy Lending Library
A special part of Maggie’s Place is dedicated to providing children, parents and caregivers access to a variety of educational and developmentally appropriate toys. Children can benefit enormously from exposure to stimulating and educational toys along with play-based interaction with parents and caregivers. Our Toy Library contains a wide choice of toys, including building sets, dolls and puppets, activity toys, games, puzzles, vehicles, sports, musical and scientific toys. Family Fun Kits with themes such as “Under the Sea”, and Community Helpers, are also available for loan.
Maggie’s Magic Cupboard Toy Lending Library is a free service for families in Cumberland County. The library is located at Maggie’s Place in Amherst and available from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday during regular business hours. Families can borrow toys for a two-week lending period.
Maggie’s Place Clothing Exchange
The clothing exchange at Maggie’s Place is available to anyone and is free of charge. There is clothing available for babies and children, as well as maternity wear. The Clothing Exchange is open 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday during regular open hours.
Back to School Supplies
Maggie’s Place, along with various community partners, collect and distribute school supplies to families in the county. A one week school supply drive is usually held in August but donations of school supplies or monetary donations for supplies are gratefully accepted at any time! Distribution of supplies (while they last) usually takes place toward the end of August or first of September from Maggie’s Place.
Piece by Piece Autism Cumberland
The Piece by Piece group was created to be a resource for families who are affected by autism as a way to gain support, find resources and raise awareness about life on the spectrum. Maggie’s Place is pleased to host this self help group at the Centre.
