Our Mission Statement

The Mission of Maggie's Place is to strengthen and enhance the health and social development of children and their families, in Cumberland and Colchester Counties.

By providing a variety of promotion and prevention services and programs, our aim is to support families through the preconception, prenatal, infant, early childhood and youth periods with an emphasis on the ages 0-6 early childhood period. We strive to strengthen partnerships and collaborative activities among families, service providers, communities and governments.

Our Values

  • Families are you and those who care about you.
  • All families have strengths
  • A variety of family forms can promote the development of both healthy children and healthy adults
  • Programs are flexible and are for the family as a whole
  • True support can be found in our community.

Maggie's Place is run by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of a network of community organizations and parents interested in families with young children.

Maggie's Place is a joint project between Colchester and Cumberland counties. Both centres have been made possible by a financial contribution from the Community Action Program for Children (CAP-C), Public Health Agency of Canada, in agreement with the province of Nova Scotia, and through the generosity of the local community.

Maggie's Place - Colchester is a United Way Funded Community Partner.    UW_LOGO_HORIZ_BW_TG_new_crop.jpg

Did you know that Maggie's Place has a sister?

In Amherst, Cumberland County, there is a Maggie's Place too.  In fact, we are sister centres!  We share the same funding, the same Board of Directors, and the same goals.  Our centres and programs look a little different because we reflect the characteristics of our own communities and families.  Drop in some time!
